Summer Scholar Institute

About the Program

Summer Scholars is a one-week residential program for middle school students who are inclined toward academic adventure.

A world class academic program will be offered this year that includes a variety of experiences. All students will choose a project that will determine their residential group. Scholars will work on this project with their counselor and present the product of their work on the last day of camp. Scholars will also attend two afternoon classes each day. Additionally, stand-alone seminars will be offered each afternoon.

Interested high school students now have the option of our leadership program.

Scholars will also enjoy the following recreation activities:

A trip to the Barter Theater, the State Theatre of Virginia located in nearby Abingdon
The annual Staff and Student Talent Show! - the infamous and hilarious celebration of talent on campus
Field Day! - a chance to compete with fellow students
Street Dance! -- Rain or shine this an opportunity to enjoy each other's company with a DJ who knows how to mix it up.

Each middle school session is limited to 120 students.

The leadership program is limited to 16.
